Vyre (news, site) has recently announced the latest version of their web content management system now supports Portlet Standards 2.0. But that's not all that is new.
What's New in Vyre Unify 4.5?
There are a number of new features and enhancements in the latest version of system Vyre Unify. These include:
- Support for Portlet Standard 2.0: JSR-286 is the Java standard for inter-portlet communication including sending/receiving event, sharing render parameters and resource serving.
- Performance Improvements: New caching layers offer performance enhancement along with a new custom XML generation engine and the bundling of CSS or Script files into bundles that are deployed as a single file.
- Adobe AIR Uploader: Supports the bulk uploading of files from the desktop to the Unify repository. You can assign metadata prior to uploading.
In addition to these enhancements, there's also support for WebDAV, improved LDAP support, updates for several third party libraries and a number of new portlets that are available out of the box.
Vyre Unify 4.5
Unify CMS has brought Vyre some nice revenue this year, despite a bad economy. The company recently noted a rise in revenues of 81% in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008. So they certainly can't complain.
The choice to build their portlets to the Java Portlet Standard will help take them further as third party portlets can now be easily integrated offering a wider range of capabilities within their full featured platform.
