Squiz has released Edit+, a premium WYSIWYG editor with a new Accessibility Auditor, for its open source, enterprise Matrix content management solution.
Edit+ extends the previous Easy Edit Suite for Matrix. It offers a user-friendly, browser-based interface and an in-line toolbar with various context-based options. By highlighting text, choices such as basic formatting, linking and a CSS tool become available.
Accessibility Auditor
Edit+ utilizes an editing interface called Viper, which provides the inline WYSIWYG click-to-edit functionality so that users can create and manage content without technical skills. The Accessibility Auditor and Viper are available only in Edit+.
The Accessibility Auditor runs checks on a page, evaluating, identifying and helping to resolve any existing or potential issues that conflict with W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Standards. In the Auditor, a user can view current or previous issues, generate reports or select a level of compliance. Switching to edit mode allows a user to correct issues as they are found.
Squiz is a London-based Web services company, and Matrix is part of its supported, customizable open source Web experience management suite that also includes analytics and search.
Version 4.6.6 of Matrix, with four new features, and Version 4.8.2, with 8 new features, were released in May. Each is the latest release in its respective branch.
