Swiss content management and content infrastructure software provider Day Software has announced its latest Java Content Repository (JCR) connector. This time the company has delivered wiring that enables standard JCR access to the IBM/FileNet's P8 Content Manager enterprise content repository.
Day has been the leading proponent of the content repository standardization movement. Of recent note, several months ago Day created JSR 170 components for Oracle and in the last week they announced a number of new training and facilitation services around Apache's Jackrabbit JCR implementation.
The IBM/FileNet P8 suite automates and drives content-related tasks and activities with a combination of doc management, out-of-the-box workflow and process capabilities. It also activates company documents and content by delivering the proper content to a prescribed place at a prescribed time.
Day's Content Integration product series enables enterprises to take care of organizational content through a single API. This means users can implement content access, consolidation and synchronization even if the content lives in data stores that do not have a JCR compliant API.
Other critical JCR features include:
* Accessibility for critical content, which includes metadata, users, groups and group memberships for P8 CM
* Ability to export repository content
* Content Search via Xpath or SQL for P8 CM's repository
* Access Control List association for enterprise security requirements
* Monitoring capabilities for changes in content, including metadata, users, groups and user permissions for P8 CM
Operational features include minimal memory and disk usage profiles for full scan support of large repositories, customizable observation intervals, multiple disjointed repository views, single sign-on support, and customizable content mapping from a connector to a P8 CM repository.
Back in 2005 Day teamed with BEA to ease JCR access from BEA's portal services. Others products slated for JCR connectors include Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS), Software AG Tamino, and IBM Domino.
